Environmental & Print Design

Environmental and print design is the discipline of taking a brand into physical space. Signage that guides people through a building. Office environments that communicate culture to every employee and visitor. Exhibition stands that represent a company in a trade show context. Print materials that hold up in the hands of a prospective client.

Physical design has technical constraints that are different from screen design, and the margin for error is different too. A misaligned UI component can be corrected in a code push. A sign printed at the wrong colour or with a bleed error arrives from the vendor and has to be reprinted. Getting it right the first time requires precision in the file preparation and clear communication with production partners.

Print that works technically

Colour that reads correctly on screen looks different on coated card, uncoated paper, and vinyl at large format. A design that works at A4 may not work at A0. We prepare files with the right bleed, trim marks, colour profiles, and resolution for each application, and document everything clearly for whichever print vendor you are working with.
